About Me

Like many people, I made my early career and job choices based on what I thought I should do rather than what I wanted to do.

I pursued a fairly traditional career path.  I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Manhattan College.  I then went to work for IBM as a Programmer / Systems Analyst before returning to school, NYU, to complete an MBA degree.  After graduating from NYU, I went to work for Intel Corporation in Northern California.

At Intel, I hit a wall.  It was exciting to work for this influential company and I loved the culture, but I was so unhappy and disconnected from myself.  I projected a few years out and honestly could not see myself there.

I had made some money in the stock market.  Eventually I decided to take some time off from work and ‘figure out’ what I wanted to do.

After leaving Intel, I had the freedom to basically experiment and try any job that appealed to me.  I worked as a nanny and realized that I loved working with children.  Through that job, I found a very special art school and started volunteering there.  I worked at a small boutique.  After returning to New York, I worked for several years at a small consulting company and even worked at President Clinton’s office in Harlem.

These experiences helped me to learn what I loved to do, hated doing, which environments worked for me and which didn’t.  As a result, a lot of confusion that I was experiencing went away.

I can look back now and realize that leaving my job at Intel was the start of my own career transition.  I have learned many lessons since then and am now writing this Blog to share my experiences and insights with others.
